Hello friends! I don't have a for-real-deal blog post for you, but I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I am alive and still kickin'.

I have a yummy recipe for pork chops AND a family session sneak preview to show you all, but I haven't had time to sit down at the computer to look through and edit those pictures for ya. And I have issues posting without pictures. So you may be waiting a while!

And here is the funny thing. We aren't super busy. I mean, we are busy (who isn't these days?), but we aren't overwhelmingly busy. Just typically busy. We are sick though. Micaiah has had a cold for a week now, I caught it from him a few days ago, Z now has the cold AND a nasty ear infection. And Daniel has training classes two evenings a week. And I home school my five year old while chasing around a one year old. And I have to feed my family and procrastinate doing laundry and house work. And I started going to the gym a couple months ago.

Aha! The gym. That is what is taking up my computer time. Pesky exercising. Maybe I should try bring my computer to the gym and editing/blogging while on the elliptical. I am sure there is some device floating around out there that holds your computer for you while you exercise, right? I need to look into that.

And please, don't be impressed at the whole gym thing. I am finding it VERY difficult to make time to go to the gym when you have a family to take care of, so I only end up working out 2 times a week. Though I would love to be able to go everyday I will take what I can get at this point!

Anyway. Just in case you were wondering, yes I am still here. Yes, I still plan to have another post sometime in the near future, and yes my boys are still ridiculously adorable. ;)

Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying this weather!

Let me just start this post off by stating that photography is a hobby of mine. I am NOT a pro and I don't claim to be one. I have a couple talented friends who have photography businesses and I am just not in that same category. A few years ago I bought a decent camera and a lens or two, checked out some photography books from the library and studied my butt off in order to learn how to properly use my camera. My photography skills improved and I started taking pictures for friends in order to get some practice. That is pretty much where I have stayed. Being a stay at home, homeschooling mom does not allow for much down time and certainly not much time for me to improve my skills enough to be considered a professional. BUT, I really enjoy taking pictures of my kids and I really enjoy taking pictures of my friends and their families!

With that being said, let me now say that not only am I not a pro, but I am also not a newborn photographer. I have very limited experience taking pictures of wee little babies, so it's rather nerve racking for me. But our friends from church just recently had a sweet baby girl and asked me to come over and take some pictures of her before all of her hair beautiful hair fell out, so I was happy to take that opportunity to practice my baby photography skills! (Which, by the way, gave me a whole new appreciation for newborn photographers.)

So without any more babbling from me, here are a few pictures from baby Ada's little session!

And just in case you were wondering, Ada's Mommy made the hat and headband that she is sporting. And she also made the beautiful gray, yellow and white blanket! How talented is she?!? I was super impressed.

Thank you Will and Clare for your patience with me during this! I loved getting to hold and take pictures of your sweet baby girl!

Garlic Chicken Recipe PDF Print E-mail

Due to the fact that it is a ridiculously easy meal, we have grilled chicken about once a week. But lately I have been bored with our usual marinade. I desperately needed to branch out and find something new, but I wanted to keep it an easy meal. So one day, about an hour before dinner, I did a quick google search for chicken recipes and found one for garlic chicken over at food.com. And you guys, it was AWESOME. I was amazed at how juicy and delish that chicken was. Especially for only using four ingredients!

So here is what you need:

First up you need four chicken breasts. I like boneless and skinless.

And yes, I realize this is only three, but they were big and it was all I had in the freezer this week. Just know the recipe is supposed to be for four!

Next you need three teaspoons of olive oil

Four cloves of garlic

And three tablespoons of brown sugar.

Mince the garlic and throw it in a pan with the olive oil. Saute until tender.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the brown sugar.

Now, line a baking pan with foil. I didn't do this the first time and I really regretted it. Burned chicken juice all over my pan takes forever to clean. Just in case you are wondering.

Place your chicken in the pan and cover with the brown sugar and garlic mixture.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Bake in an oven that has been preheated to 500 for 15-30 minutes. (It's closer to 25-30 minutes for me.)

And wala! Golden garlic-y goodness.

Serve it with mashed potatoes, white rice or, my personal favorite,The Pioneer Woman's baked macaroni and cheese.

Mmmm. I'm getting hungry.

Make this soon. It's yum. :)

Garlic Chicken

Preheat oven to 500 and line a baking dish with foil.

Saute garlic with oil until tender. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar.

Place chicken breast in prepared baking dish and cover with garlic and brown sugar mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Bake uncovered for 15-30 minutes, or until cooked all the way through.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

This weekend I had the pleasure of taking some pictures of some new friends of ours. They are a super cute couple with an almost-three-month-old baby boy who is precious as can be! And I know I usually spend a lot more time "talking" in my blog posts, but I'm going to cut the babbling short tonight due to the fact that I just got back from the gym and I have a huge bowl of ice cream waiting on me in the other room. ;)

Enjoy the sneak peek of their session!

Thank you, Alligood's, for letting me take your pictures! I enjoyed our time together!

Birthday Vacation PDF Print E-mail

My oldest baby turned five years old last Thursday. FIVE YEARS OLD! It just blows my mind. Usually we throw a party and invite his little friends and family members to help us celebrate, but this year (and ONLY this year) we decided to change things up a bit. We nixed the party idea and took a little trip to Orlando, Florida instead! We spent two days in Disney World and one day at Sea World. It was SO awesome! And oh-my-gosh exhausting! Seriously, I don't even want to think about going to Disney again for another 3-5 years. I will probably need that long to recover from the craziness! But it was worth it.

This was Zachariah's (and obviously Micaiah's too) first trip to Disney and our first time there as a family. I took a total of one picture with my Canon and over 200 with my iPhone. I kind of regret not using my "real" camera more, but using my phone allowed me to actually BE there on vacation and not worry about setting up the "perfect picture". During our vacation I Instagrammed some of my favorites, so I am just going to plop those into this blog post so you can see some of the fun we had during Zachariah's birthday vacation!
