30 Weeks and 2.5 Years Old PDF Print E-mail

I have a home school post coming up sometime in the next decade or so, but for now I wanted to drop in and give a real quick update on things.

Let's start out by addressing the elephant in the room. Yes, it has indeed been three months since I have updated this blog. Homeschooling is apparently taking up a good bit of my time, so this poor little website gets neglected. My camera gets neglected too. I am quite embarrassed about the lack of pictures I take these days. But thank goodness for iphones, huh? Anyway. I would get used to having a good while go by between blog posts. I apparently haven't found a good time to fit in blogging into my regular schedule yet.

Next... I am now in my third trimester of pregnancy! I am 30 weeks along, to be exact. Exciting stuff. And in cases anyone was wondering, I am totally and completely over the whole being huge and pregnant thing. :P The next 10 weeks need to fly by, because between my pregnant temper (oh boy, it is NOT pretty), my junk food cravings, the massive braxton hicks contractions, and my lack of sleep, I am BEYOND ready to get this baby out of me. But alas, I still have 10-ish weeks to go. So here is to hoping that between homeschooling, Z's birthday, preparing the nursery and Halloween I can keep busy enough to not realize how uncomfortable I am!

The boys are BEYOND excited about having a new baby brother in a couple months. They talk to and about him often, ask to feel him kick, tell him about what is going on outside of my belly... it's cute. I can tell Micaiah is getting a bit tired of my growing belly, though he won't really complain about it. This belly of mine makes it VERY difficult to snuggle, cuddle and sit in my lap. So my snuggly baby has been sharing his snuggles with Dad more lately. Which Dad LOVES! But let me tell you, if after I have this baby this child doesnt go back to being a full fledged Mama's boy and needing me to snuggle him, we are gonna have problems! :P

Speaking of my Mama's boy, I took some pictures of him this weekend. It has been forever since I have taken some updated pictures of my sweet little Micaiah, and it just blows my mind to see how much he has grown in the past few months! He is so not a baby anymore, and he is quick to correct me when I refer to him as "my baby". He knows he is a big boy and he desperately wants to be referred to as one.

And he is still the silliest boy ever. His greatest joy in life is to get people to laugh. That and to snuggle his Happy Bear. Which somehow did not make it into these pictures! That is seriously a first.

Anyway! That about does it for now. Zachariah has a birthday (and therefore a birthday party) coming up at the end of this week, so I hope to check back in sometime with some pictures from that!

Happy Monday, everyone! See ya in another three months! :P

A Titus Family Update PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 June 2013 13:12

Goodness. It has been MONTHS since I last wrote a blog post. How embarrassing. I have plenty of excuses, I swear! It's partly due to the fact that I am a slacker, and partly due to the fact that I have had a ton of things going on lately. So allow me to update you on a few things!

*Disclaimer* If you follow me on social networks these updates are probably old news.

1) I'm pregnant!

We are expecting Titus Baby number three sometime in November and we are all very excited! Well, most of us anyway. Micaiah was not so thrilled with the news at first, but he has warmed up to the idea now. Upon hearing the news he shouted "NO! Mama not hold baby! Mama hold ME!". Now he will ask about the baby in my tummy and poke it and lift my shirt up and try to see it. Definitely improvement!

In true Amy Lynn fashion, I have been horribly sick during pregnancy. I was basically stuck in the house for eight weeks straight trying to deal with the nausea and puking and all around crap-like feeling. Along with the sickness during pregnancy I also regularly experience an excess in saliva (which usually results in me having to spit in a cup or bottle) and yeast infections on my tongue. Yes, that's a thing. I found out when I was pregnant with Micaiah that was something pregnant me would have to deal with. Woohoo! So yeah, I hate being pregnant. But I am sixteen weeks now and I am only puking once a day, so that is a huge plus! Hopefully it will just keep getting better!

We find out the gender of the baby in four weeks and we can't wait! Every single one of our extended family members wants us to have a girl, but those of us who are actually going to have to live with and raise the child are all hoping for another boy! And I know I may end up eating my words at the end of the month, but I am about 90% sure it's a boy. Not because I have a certain "feeling" or anything, but because this pregnancy is NO different from my other two. I know that's not a sure fire sign that it's the same sex as the other two, but still. I am just under the assumption that this baby is another sweet little boy! :)

Oh, and Zachariah has decided on names for the baby. If it's a girl he wants to name it Chartreuse, and if it's a boy he wants to name it Leo. For Leonardo, the Ninja Turtle. We thanked him for his name contributions and promptly reminded him that we are ultimately in charge of naming the baby. ;)

2) We moved!

This post let everyone know that we were going to move, but I never posted about it actually happening! Well, it happened. Thankfully. We have been living in our awesome new house for a couple months now and I LOVE it. Love, love, love. It is beyond perfect for us! With the exception of a few random boxes here and there, we are unpacked. I am just looking forward to getting stuff up on the walls and organizing closets and whatnot!

I hope to show you more of the house sometime in the future, but for now this is all you get. I can only have a few rooms clean at a time around here! We are working on merging the boys rooms and will eventually be working on the nursery, so I feel sure I will be showing you the bedrooms sometime soon. But know we love the house and we are VERY blessed to have it. (I mean, check out that huge yard! Goodness. I love a large backyard. So much room for the boys to play!)

This summer I hope to do some MAJOR organizing to my homeschooling shelf (which is stored in the laundry room), the playroom closet (which is housing a ton of boxes) and our master closet. Which, due to the fact that you can barely walk in there, needs the most help. Once I get those things done I will be able to breathe a little easier and maybe start focusing on the baby's room!

3) Zachariah completed Kindergarten!

It's true. My five year old is now a Kindergarten graduate. Except I don't think that's very accurate, because we didn't have a graduation. THANK GOODNESS. I haaaaate the whole concept behind kids "graduating" after basically every grade level. Makes high school graduation a little less special. That's a perk of homeschooling, right? ;) But anyway, graduation or not, he completed kindergarten! He did a great job this year and we are super excited about starting first grade in the fall! I am in the process of getting my ducks in a row and ordering curriculum for next year, and that excites me. I love ordering school stuff! I will have another post later in the summer/closer to the start of the school year and let you know what all we will be doing for school this year. Since he will be in first grade we will be adding a couple new things to our plate, so I am excited to try these new things out!

Now, just because we are done with the "school year" doesn't mean we are completely done with school for the summer. Daniel and I decided to do school year round. Which honestly, is not as bad as it sounds. So please, no freaking out! :P We just want to do enough to keep the kids brain active and functioning and to keep a routine. (It is VERY important for my sanity to keep a routine. Without it we all just end up yelling and fighting with each other. Oy.) So this summer we will go through a workbook or two, but mainly work on strengthening Zachariah's reading. He is doing a GREAT job, but because of the pregnancy puking I was not able to work with him at the end of the school year as much as I would have liked. Micaiah keeps begging to "do school" too, so we have been working on shapes and might even start reviewing numbers later on in the summer! Which is great, considering the fact that I have done next to NOTHING with him this year. Poor child. Z knew colors, shapes, numbers, letter recognition AND could match them with their letter sounds by 18 months old. And my two year old still can't tell the difference between red and blue. HA! He is definitely a second born! :)

Oh, and just because we are doing school work doesn't mean that we aren't enjoying the heck out of our summer! We have been having a blast making homemade popsicles, having lots of water play, spending time with friends on playdates and just enjoying being able to relax and do whatever our little hearts desire. (Which for these boys, their hearts desire usually has something to do with shooting water guns.)

So yeah. That is a little update on our life right now. Now that we have finished the moving process and I am puking less, I hope to officially be back in the swing of the whole blogging thing. At least until the baby is born. Then I am sure I will take a looooooong hiatus. ;)

Have a great week everyone!

Two Years Old PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 11 March 2013 14:02

Since I haven't gotten around to taking "official" two year old pictures of Micaiah, I thought a few snap shots were in order. And since I have some pictures to post I might as well do an "all about Micaiah" post and give you a little info about my adorable little two year old!

I don't know why, but I am constantly amazed at how different my two boys are. Z was a very cautious kid. Never climbing on or jumping off furniture. He basically stayed away from anything that would be considered wild and dangerous. Micaiah, on the other hand, is the definition of wild and dangerous. He climbs on anything can just so he can jump off of it and climb it again. He runs around with boxes or blankets on his head because he think's he is hilarious, only to run into a wall and get a whelp on his head. He tries to climb in the dryer and dishwasher if either are left open. I swear to you, he would scale the walls if they had footholds. In fact, in the mornings when I go in to get him out of his crib he now throws everything out (blanket, pillow, stuffed animals... EVERYTHING.) and then hikes a leg up over the crib and says "Ok, jump." Thankfully he doesn't have the "oomph" needed to hurl himself over the rail yet, but it's coming. Once we get settled into our new house this kid is going to need a big boy bed.

Despite his craziness, he is still my cuddly, thumb sucking, teddy bear loving baby. His attachment to his bear is still alive and well, and it shows no sign of dwindling. That bear comes everywhere with us. And on the rare occasion that it is left behind, Micaiah notices less than five minutes into our errand running venture. This bear (and his thumb) are his security blankets and he doesn't like to be separated from either. I noticed a while back that there are very few pictures of Micaiah that do not have bear in them somewhere. Even our Christmas card picture included that bear! :P

Because the bear comes everywhere (grocery stores, outside, toy stores, grandparents, homeschool classes... you get the picture), we need to wash it fairly frequently. And when we do, it is THE most depressing time for Micaiah. He tries to distract himself from the fact that he has to spend 2 hours away from bear, but it never works. He goes back and forth between my lap and the laundry room door asking for bear to be done. And when the dryer turns off Micaiah digs around in the clothes until he finds the bear, and then they share lots of hugs, kisses and kind words. (Yes, I said exchanged. Micaiah makes the bear talk back to him in a high pitched squeaky voice.) I think it's safe to say that this bear is very loved!

Oh, and did I mention that he is still a major Mama's boy? I assume you guys knew that. Over the past couple months I have been trying to explain to him that he doesn't need to be held ALL the time, and instead of carrying him I will hold his hand and we will walk together. Thankfully that seems to do the trick. I love cuddling with him and holding him, but not when I am standing. And not 24/7. He is 30 pounds and that just gets heavy after a while!

One of the not so fun parts of having a mamas boy is his jealousy when I hold or touch ANYONE but him. When he sees me holing a baby in nursery at church, he screams and cries and begs for me to be done. And then he holds a grudge for the rest of the day and reminds me that I held a baby. *eye roll* Also, when a friend a church hugged me the other week (I was holding him), he grabbed me around the neck and said "No, mama hug ME."

Wanna hear a couple more examples? When Zachariah gets hurt or needs a hug for whatever reason, Micaiah gets livid. He will try to push Z out of my lap so that he can come in and snuggle. And the worst is when he sees Daniel give me a hug or kiss. He will scream and then cry as if he just witnessed someone ripping his teddy bear to shreds. Alligator tears, folks. And he won't come near us until Daniel has stopped touching me. It's ridiculous. And we are trying to work on correcting this selfish behavior of his. While it started out kinda funny, it is really becoming an issue around here!

Another few fun facts about my youngest:

His favorite...

color is yellow.

animal is a puppy. And bears.

food is hummus.

person to play with his Zachariah.

joke is "knock knock. Who's there? Hee Hee. Hee hee who? PUSH!" (And yes, he will actually tell that joke quite often. It's kinda embarrassing.)

thing to do is play outside (aka: climb on our fort). And snuggle with me. And watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse. And read books with Dad. ;)

As you can probably tell, there is never a dull moment with this kid. He is such a fun little guy who constantly makes us laugh and we love him to pieces!!!

A Few Things... PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 March 2013 10:30

1) Due to recent stomach/digestive issues, I am having to go lactose free. As in, I can't have dairy anymore. Which stinks. A lot. Because cheese is a big part of my life. Seriously, folks. It is basically a food group for me! But I have done research and experimenting with my diet and we are quite sure dairy is the problem. When I eat dairy I have severe stomach pain and related issues. When I go a few days without any dairy products I feel perfectly fine and normal again. So I am joining Micaiah (who is lactose intolerant) in his diary free journey!

2) We have officially started packing for our move. We have only packed around a dozen boxes so far, but we already hate the whole process. Obviously it's gonna be worth it in the end, but goodness. Packing is NO fun. Especially when we use SO much stuff and can't pack up most of it until a few days before we move. But we are slowly trying to chip away at the pile of stuff we have to pack by packing things we KNOW we aren't going to use for a while. (Christmas decorations, silver platters, kitchen appliances that are only used twice a year... you get the picture!) Anyway. Packing stinks. But I am seriously beside myself with excitement about moving soon!!! I can't wait!!!

3) Yesterday I took this picture of Zachariah and it melts me into a giant puddle every time I look at it.

He is such a cute kid. And that hair is GORGEOUS. He pulls off the long haired look so wonderfully! But I'm not biased or anything. :)

4) I am still wanting to blog Micaiah's birthday party pics, but for some reason they are not wanting to upload to my blog. Apparently I have to go in and re-size them or something. I dunno. I'll figure it out this weekend-ish. So, it may be another little while before you see those. Sorry! They are on my facebook page though!

5) This month I am in charge of birthday treats for our church members, and I made cinnamon toast crunch cupcakes. I just wanted to share the recipe in case I haven't yet. They are SO unbelievably good. As in, they will change your cupcake eating life. You have GOT to try them!

6) Oh, also, I made strawberry doughnuts. This is my second time making them and they are such a huge hit with my family! They are baked, so not so awful for you. And instead of making the glaze I just dip the doughnuts in the leftover pureed strawberries as a topping. SO yum, and easy! (And to make them dairy free I just use lactose free butter and almond milk instead of regular milk. Wala!)

Ok, that's it for now! Have a good weekend, folks!

Exciting News! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 February 2013 12:22

I am very happy to finally announce...

We are moving!!!!

Usually I am all over social networking big (or little) things that happen in our life while they are happening, but this all happened SO fast that I quite frankly haven't had the time to alert everyone until now! Within the last week someone came and looked at our house (the third person to see it since it has been on the market this time), made an offer, we accepted, we signed papers, started looking for houses, found THE perfect house, made an offer, signed papers for THAT house, they accepted our offer! We are having our home inspection done this afternoon, we are starting the loan process with the bank and then soon we will be starting the grueling task of packing up our whole house. After all that we hope to be in our new house by the end of March! Soooo exciting! And stressful. And exciting!

Here is a cell phone picture of our soon-to-be- new house. I'll have better pictures for ya once it is officially ours. :) It has been a long journey to get here (our house was on the market last year with no luck), but we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I am so excited. God is so, so good. He answered our prayers perfectly with this new house. Seriously. There is nothing we don't like about it. It fits our wants and needs perfectly! I am so, so thankful that He has worked this out for us! This next month is going to be the most exhausting and most exciting month!!! I cannot wait to move into our new house!

I will hopefully be back with a few more blog posts between now and then (I still need to blog Micaiah's birthday party pictures!), but with all this craziness going on I am not making any promises! :)
